Snow and ice weather warning for Northern Ireland

A weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for Northern Ireland.

The yellow warning will be in place from 8pm on Monday until 10am on Wednesday. The Met Office said: "A spell of rain, quickly turning to sleet and snow, will move southeast across the UK on Monday night and Tuesday, gradually weakening across England and Wales.

"Some roads and railways may be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.

"As rain, sleet and snow clears Northern Ireland and Scotland overnight Monday, ice may form on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths."

On Tuesday sleet, snow and hail showers will create icy stretches overnight.

Some transport disruption is possible with longer journey times and delays to public transport.

Icy patches are likely to develop on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, leading to an increased risk of injuries and accidents.
