A soldier suspected of murdering a Royal Irish Regiment corporal from Northern Ireland remained in police custody last night.
Detectives launched a murder probe following the discovery of the body of Geoffrey McNeill.
The 32-year-old was found at barracks in Tern Hill, near Market Drayton in Shropshire, on Saturday morning.
A 23-year-old fellow soldier was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police were yesterday given more time to quiz him following an application to a magistrates court.
Detectives have until 11am this morning before the custody extension granted runs out.
No details regarding the circumstances of Mr McNeill's death have been made public.
