Solicitor stole £800k from clients
Former solicitor Damien Murray appeared in the dock of Belfast Crown Court and admitted stealing more than £800,000 from clients at his law firm over a four-year period.
Murray (50) from Upper Dunmurry Lane, Belfast, was re-arraigned on one count of theft and charged with stealing a total of £811,080 from clients of Damien Murray and Co Solicitors between June 24, 1999 and December 16, 2003.
After his client told the court he would be pleading guilty, a defence barrister told Mr Justice Weir that the case was "not straightforward" and he would be providing the court with medical evidence.
The judge ordered pre-sentence reports and released Murray, who was struck off in 2011, on continuing bail.
