Some milder weather on the way after a cold week

By Staff Reporter

After a week of snow, ice, rain and temperatures ranging from freezing to mild, the weekend and into the start of next week is looking a bit more stable with none of the extremes we have seen recently.

While today will start cool, it is expected to see some bright sunshine.

Tomorrow looks gloomier and windier with rain moving in, but on the upside it will remain mild with temperatures well above average for January and even moving into double figures with a high of 11C.

There will be a return to mainly dry, colder, brighter weather on Monday with some sunshine, then back to dull, wet and milder again on Tuesday, both hovering at around a cool 8C degrees.

The only warning from the Met Office is for ice from evenings and into the mornings over the next five days as temperatures drop overnight.

So motorists have been warned to be cautious when taking to the roads.
