By Claire Williamson

The son of a woman found dead at her home has been released from police custody and detained under the Mental Health Act.

The badly injured body of hairdresser Margaret Evans (69) was found at her home in Knockancor Drive in Portstewart last Wednesday.

Her body is believed to have been discovered by her businessman husband John.

On Thursday detectives confirmed they had launched a murder inquiry.

Police said yesterday a 32-year-old man is now being held under the Mental Health Act.

Mrs Evans was well-known in the Portstewart area as the owner of hairdressing salon, Madame Margo.
