SOS goes on facebook

East Belfast Community Development Agency (EBCDA) has turned to social networking to drive its anti-suicide message home.

EBCDA’s new suicide prevention information officer Trisha McQueen has set up a Facebook profile to raise awareness and provide help to the wider community around the issues of suicide prevention and post-vention.

The East Belfast Survivors of Suicide Support Group page aims to provide a useful platform for discussion and mutual support around this issue.

Trisha McQueen said: “We believe suicide prevention is everyone’s business and would hope that you would spend just a couple of minutes of your time to help raise awareness amongst as many people as possible as it just may make a difference to someone’s life.”

Anyone requiring assistance, advice or support can contact EBCDA, 9am-5pm Mon-Friday, on 02890 451512 or on the crisis response line on 07724029766.
