South Armagh man stable after being shot in legs

A south Armagh man who was shot in both legs and hit over the head is recovering in hospital after being attacked in his own home by a gang.

The victim was initially taken to Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry following the shooting, where his condition was said to be stable.

Other people in the house at Drummond Road in Cullyhanna were left traumatised but otherwise uninjured.

The man, believed to be his 40s, was expected to be transferred to Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital overnight.

Last night, Sinn Fein councillor Colman Burns "condemned unreservedly" the shooting of the victim, who he knows to be "a family man with several adult children," and urged anyone with information to come forward.
