Police have arrested a man in south Belfast following the seizure of £190,000 worth of suspected cannabis.

The 39-year-old was detained by detectives from Organised Crime Branch following the search of two houses in the area.

He is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

The latest drugs recovery comes as police revealed they seized £120,000 worth of suspected cannabis in one day in Belfast last month.

Detective Sergeant McAuley, Organised Crime Branch said: “I am pleased that we have taken a considerable quantity of illicit drugs from the streets of Northern Ireland.

“Seizures such as this demonstrate our ongoing commitment to tackling the scourge of drugs in our society.

“I would encourage anyone who has any information about the use or supply of illegal drugs to contact police on the non-emergency number 101 with any information they have.
