Spate of carjacking cases continues

A spate of car hijacking incidents in Belfast has continued after a man attempted to drag a woman from her vehicle.

Friday night's attack in the Grosvenor Road area was the seventh in the city in less than two weeks.

At around 9pm the man tried to pull the female driver from her car. When she refused to get out he took property from the rear of the vehicle and made off.

The woman escaped uninjured.

The man was described as being in his early 20s wearing a dark hooded top with a light scarf over his face. He also wore jeans and white trainers.

Police have appealed for witnesses.

In yet another hijacking incident, a man was forced into the back of his own car by a gang in north Belfast.

He was accosted in the Eskdale Gardens area around 7.30pm on Friday night and driven a short distance before being assaulted and dumped from the vehicle.

The car was discovered on fire a short time later in the Rosapenna Street area.

Police said the man was not injured. They again appealed for witnesses.
