A retrospective art exhibition has been launched by Cancer Focus Northern Ireland to mark the charity's 50th anniversary and the 10th year of its art therapy service.

Around 30 pieces of work by people affected by cancer are on display at the Tower Gallery in Belfast City Hospital until early January.

Cancer Focus NI art therapist Joanne Boal said: "This exhibition is a tribute to all the patients who are still on their cancer journey and also in memory of those who are sadly no longer with us.

"Many people say they aren't any good at art but it is amazing what you can do. I'd say to anyone, dip your toe in the water and give it a go. It's all about self-expression."

The exhibition is supported by Arts Care NI and the Belfast Trust. Telephone 028 9066 3281 for more information about the charity's art therapy service or visit online at www.cancerfocusni.org/art-therapy. The Cancer Focus NI information and support Nurse Line can be contacted via 0800 783 3339.
