Special Easter treat for pupils

Lucky school children are set to get a special Easter gift, courtesy of McQuiston Church.

Ladies from the local worship venue, located on the Castlereagh Road, have been busy knitting chicks, which also hold a cream egg inside.

And this week the gifts are being distributed to three primary schools across the borough — Avoniel, Elmgrove and Euston Street.

Lily Magnes, Lily Shivers, Margery Beggs and Sandra McIlrath knitted over 1,000 chicks for the local children in the past few months.

Ben Johnston, the youth and children’s worker at McQuiston church, handed out the treats at special Assemblies in each of the schools this week.

And next Tuesday, March 31, the church will run a one-day Easter club for 4-11 year-olds in the church from 2pm until 3pm.
