Stab death accused to face trial

An alleged killer accused of stabbing a man to death has been committed to trial.

A prosecution lawyer submitted to Coleraine Magistrates Court there was a Prima Facie case against Nigel McGothigan who is charged with the murder of well-known Ballycastle man Kevin O'Neill in April last year.

Mr O'Neill (25) suffered fatal wounds after he was stabbed at a house in Ballycastle.

District Judge Liam McNally said he was satisfied there was sufficient evidence to return the accused for Crown Court trial.

McGothigan, from Broombeg, also in Ballycastle, was remanded in custody until March 28.
