Four employees of Yorkgate cinema Movie House Cityside are planning to complete an incredible five marathons in five days to support a colleague being treated for cancer.

Séan Grant, Conor McKeown, John Paul Taggart and Ruaidrhí O’Muiri are hitting the roads of Co Cork next week for The Friends of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital.

Sean said they were determined to raise more than £1,000 for the unit with this event — members of staff have already raised £2,000 through various fundraising efforts since June.

“This unit is currently managing treatment for a member of staff who is respected, loved and missed very much at Movie House Cityside.

“We are all frustrated that there is so little we can do to help and this is our way of showing we care and trying to do something for this unit, which is helping our colleague,” he added.

The boys are running from Cork city to Kilcatten, Skibbereen, Bantry, Macroom and back to Cork and each leg is 26 miles. They start on Sunday and are due to finish by Thursday.

The cinema and a number of its suppliers are supporting the team but any members of the public wishing to make a donation can do so at Movie House Cityside. You can also follow their progress on www.moviehouse.co.uk.
