Staff members suspended in Belfast City Hospital C.Diff probe
Two members of staff at Belfast's City Hospital have been suspended following a C. Difficile outbreak.
It's understood the outbreak was a number of months ago.
C.diff is a bacterium that can infect the bowel and cause extreme diarrhoea in some patients.
The suspension is part of an inquiry into how the bacteria emerged at a ward in the south Belfast hospital and how it was managed.
The Belfast Trust said: "The Trust is conducting an internal investigation into the issue but has sought an independent expert to chair this process.
"The Trust can confirm that two members of staff have been temporarily suspended in relation to this matter."
