Staff threatened at knife point in Newry shop armed robbery

Man made off in vehicle with cash

A staff member in a Newry shop was held up at knife point in an armed robbery.

A masked man entered the shop on Canal Street at around 9.30pm on Wednesday.

After pulling a knife he threatened the staff member.

He then fled the shop with cash and it's thought got into a light-coloured saloon type vehicle.

Detective Sergeant Bell appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Ardmore Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1434 of 28/02/18.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
