Star Emeli confirms headline show at Custom House gig

By Staff Reporter

Pop starlet Emeli Sande will perform a headline show in Belfast this summer. The Scottish singer-songwriter will play Custom House Square on August 16, showcasing her latest album Long Live The Angels, which was released last year. It achieved the biggest week one sales for a British female solo artist in 2016.

Her recently scheduled dates in March/April 2017 sold out within hours.

Sande shot to fame in 2012 with her critically acclaimed first album Our Version Of Events, which included the collaboration Read All About It with Professor Green.

Tickets for the Belfast gig, priced £30 plus a booking fee, will go on sale on Friday at 9am from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.

Meanwhile, old favourite Chris Rea is coming to Northern Ireland later this year to play the Waterfront Hall in Belfast as part of his European tour, to celebrate the release of his new album, Road Songs for Lovers.

The veteran Road To Hell crooner survived pancreatic cancer in the early 2000s and spoke out about how the experience had made him reflect on life, saying in an interview: "It just goes to show that money and success don't mean anything". He returned to music in 2008 with the release of his album The Return of the Fabulous Hofner Blue Notes.

His Belfast gig is on December 7 and tickets will likewise go on sale this Friday at 9am at the Ulster Hall Box Office or via Ticketmaster.
