Singer Paul Simon and actor Gabriel Byrne will pay tribute to Seamus Heaney in New York next week, as poets unite to remember Northern Ireland's greatest wordsmith.
The Nobel Laureate from Bellaghy died on August 30.
US poets will remember Heaney on November 11 at a Manhattan gathering in Cooper Union's Great Hall. Paul Simon, who will make a special guest appearance, said: "Popular culture likes to house songwriters and poets under the same roof, but we are not the close family that some imagine.
"Seamus though, was one of those rare poets whose writing evokes music."
A reading of tributes and poems four days later in Brooklyn's St Ann's Warehouse will be attended by actor Byrne.
