Stopped but allowed to go on in the name of love: Blindfolded woman discovered during PSNI checkpoint

A couple's anniversary romantic surprise getaway was almost dashed when they unexpectedly encountered the police.

During a police vehicle checkpoint in Omagh, officers stopped one car and, after asking the driver for his destination, they heard the crises of one blindfolded woman.

"Please don't make him tell you," the alarmed woman said.

It turned out they were off on a romantic jaunt for their anniversary and she was in the middle of being whisked away to a secret location for a surprise break.

"Needless to say we didn't ruin the surprise by pressing him," said police, "but we would love to know where you were going? So if you're reading this please let us know where you ended up. We hope you had a lovely time."
