Storm Eleanor: Around 50 homes and businesses in Northern Ireland still without power

Around 50 homes and businesses in the southern and eastern parts of Northern Ireland remain without power following Storm Eleanor.

NIE Networks emergency crews have worked to restore power to more than 25,000 properties due to the damage caused to the network.

The NIE said all customers affected by the storm will have power restored by Thursday evening.

Around 50 homes and businesses in the South and East of Northern Ireland remain without power following Storm Eleanor.

The remaining 40 faults require significant work and resources involving tree cutting, excavation and reinstatement, traffic management and overhead lines teams.

Sara McClintock, communications manager at NIE Networks, said: “We are grateful for the patience of all of the customers who lost power due to Storm Eleanor. The severity and intensity of the storm gusts, caused considerable damage to the electricity network and left us with almost 400 faults which were time consuming and labour intensive to repair.

“Our teams will continue to work into the night until the last customer has power restored.”
