The Department of Justice is paying more than £500,000 a year to keep female remand prisoners locked up because of a shortage of suitable bail addresses.

Thirteen women in Hydebank Wood Detention Centre are eligible for bail while awaiting trial, but remain locked up as no suitable bail address is available.
