Strangford Ferry's merry Christmas for lough travellers

By Staff Reporter

The Strangford ferry will take on a festive feeling this weekend when carol singers and Christmas lights will provide shipboard entertainment for passengers travelling between Strangford and Portaferry.

The ferry will be aglow with colourful lights between 4.30pm and 9pm on Friday and Saturday as more than 20 different choirs and groups from all over the Ards and Lecale areas sing Christmas favourites.

On shore there will also be Christmas markets, storytelling, decorated boats, houses, castles, streets and even an illuminated windmill.

Christmas markets packed with stalls will be staged in the Market House and Square in Portaferry and on The Green in Strangford. For children, there will be storytelling and free art activities in The Narrows Social.

To the accompaniment of carols sung by local school choirs, the Portaferry Christmas tree will be switched on at 6pm on Friday.

A 'Sparkle and Spice' weekend will take place in Exploris with a number of special festive events.
