'Substantial' amount of cash taken in Co Antrim ATM raids

Police are appealing for information after a number of ATM machines were targeted in Co Antrim.

A shop on the Lurgan Road in Aghalee was broken into in the early hours of Friday morning and a substantial amount of cash was stolen.

During the burglary an attempt to remove an ATM was unscuccesful.

Another attempt to remove an ATM machine from a shop in the Tully Road area of Crumlin was also reported to police.

Detective Inspector Wallace said: "I would appeal for anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious persons or vehicles in the Aghalee or surrounding areas to contact Detectives on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 245 20/04/18.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
