These are the four women who have created a small bit of political history.

Causeway Coast and Glens is the only super-council in Northern Ireland to have a succession of female mayors since its inception in 2015.

The current Mayor, Sinn Fein councillor Brenda Chivers, stands down from her post tomorrow. The previous mayors were councillor Michelle Knight-McQuillan (DUP), former Alderman Maura Hickey (SDLP) and councillor Joan Baird (UUP).

Ms Chivers said she can look back on her time as mayor with satisfaction, adding: "I was a mayor for all. My main ambition was to bring everyday people into my parlour and the council chambers to show the engagement between the council and its people.

"Many people felt disengaged from council and I have worked tirelessly to resolve this. "
