Supporters bused in to secure Nesbitt UUP victory
Loyal Ulster Unionist supporters are going to be bused from the west of the country to ensure Mike Nesbitt’s success in his bid for leadership of the party.
Sam Foster, chairman of the UUP’s Fermanagh and South Tyrone constituency association, said at least two buses - filled with about 100 people - would be travelling to the Ramada Hotel in Belfast to help secure Mr Nesbitt’s victory over his closest rival, deputy leader John McCallister.
Former UTV presenter Mr Nesbitt is the front-runner in the race to replace Tom Elliott in a contest billed as being a decision on whether the UUP should leave the Stormont Executive.
Mr Foster said in the Irish News: “My indication is that there are at least two buses going. Those votes won’t be going anywhere else but Nesbitt. He is the best candidate of the two.”
