By Staff Reporter

A 26-year-old man arrested by detectives investigating the stabbing of a woman in west Belfast has been released.

The attack happened on Monday evening in Poleglass and left the 35-year-old victim in a critical but stable condition.

Detective Inspector Brian Foster said: "At around 6pm two people, a man and a woman, called at an address in Woodside View and became involved in an altercation with the female resident at the door.

"One of the pair stabbed the householder in the abdomen before both fled the scene."

The arrested male was detained by detectives in north Belfast at around 1am yesterday before being taken into custody.

Last night a spokesperson for the PSNI said the 26-year-old man arrested had been released on bail pending further police enquiries.
