Suspected arson attack on Portaferry house


An early morning fire in Portaferry is being treated as suspicious.

The blaze at an unoccupied house in Ashmount Park was reported at around 3.10am.

Inspector David McClements said: “The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire which they say was started deliberately."

Police enquiries are at an early stage and officers are appealing for information. They can be contacted by calling the non-emergency number 101.
