Suspects deny possession of bomb
Three Londonderry men have denied having an armour piercing bomb.
Appearing in the dock of Belfast Crown Court, 41-year-old Jason Ceulemans, Damien Harkin and Neil Hegarty, both 48, pleaded not guilty to possessing "an explosively formed projectile (EFP) type improvised device" with intent to endanger life on December 6 last year.
Ceulemans, from the Lecky Road, Harkin from Westland Avenue, and Hegarty, from Sackville Court, all Derry, also denied having the explosive device under suspicious circumstances and a further charge of possessing two walkie talkies and a torch for a terrorist purpose.Derry
The arraignment on a count of conspiring together to cause an explosion was adjourned for legal applications to be heard.
The EFP was uncovered in a car which was stopped by the police in the Creggan area of the city.
Judge David McFarland remanded all three back into custody until their trial, due to be heard in November.
