Suzanne Breen becomes Belfast Telegraph's new political editor

The Belfast Telegraph today announces the appointment of its new Political Editor, Suzanne Breen.

Ms Breen is the former Northern Editor of the Sunday Tribune and former Senior Northern Correspondent of the Irish Times, working for that paper for over a decade in Belfast and Dublin.

A multi award-winning journalist, she has been seven times Northern Ireland CIPR news/feature journalist of the year, as well as former Outstanding Irish Woman Journalist of the Year.

Ms Breen is also a regular contributor to the BBC, UTV, RTE, Channel Four and other broadcast media.

Gail Walker, Editor of the Belfast Telegraph, said she was delighted to welcome Ms Breen to head up "our unrivalled political coverage both in print and online".

She added: "I have long been an admirer of Suzanne's journalism and I know that she will be an excellent addition to the senior team at the Belfast Telegraph.

"She is one of the most respected journalists in these islands, with a formidable track record of breaking exclusive stories and providing expert analysis.

Ms Breen is stepping into a role previously held by her good friend, the late Liam Clarke.
