Swimming pool is closed after leak

The main swimming pool at the Valley Leisure Centre has been closed due to a leak.

The problem came to light this week just as the pool was due to reopen following some essential maintenance work.

During the work the pool had been drained to allow for repairs and cleaning. The work also included new lockers being installed in the village changing area and the shower cubicles being improved.

However, this week staff realised that the pool appeared to be leaking water.

The council is investigating the leak and has called in specialist consultants to advise on the repair work needed. Centre staff have been contacting groups booked to use the pool and parents or carers of children registered for swimming lessons to notify them of the closure. The small pool is still open and where possible swimming lessons have been switched to it.
