Taxi driver fends off would-be teen car hijackers in west Belfast

A taxi driver has fended off two would-be teen hijackers - one of whom was armed with chain - in west Belfast.

Shortly after 11pm it was reported that a taxi driver pulled up outside a house in the Lady Street area when two males got into his vehicle and threatened him.

One of the males pulled the handbrake up and the other got into the rear of the vehicle with a chain.

The taxi driver managed to get them out of the vehicle before driving off.

One of the males is described as being 16-17 years old, approximately 5ft 9inches tall, of slim build with short dirty fair hair. 

The second male is described as being approximately 16-years-old and of slim build.

Detective Constable Sam McCallum is appealing for anyone who can help identify those involved in this incident or anyone who may be able to assist the investigation in any other way to contact Belfast Reactive and Organised Crime on the non-emergency number 101.
