TD 'reveals eight IRA abusers' to Gardai
A TD has given gardai the names of eight alleged sex abusers who the IRA moved from Northern Ireland to the Republic.
Fine Gael's Regina Doherty met a detective from Ashbourne Garda Station in Co Meath yesterday to pass on the information, the party has confirmed.
The Meath East TD told the Dail this week she had been given information about eight men "who were facilitated by Sinn Fein" to move into the Republic.
She said she was afraid to name them in the Dail.
Meanwhile, the fallout from Sinn Fein's alleged stunt in the Dail on Thursday continues.
The Republic's Public Expenditure Minister Brendan Howlin said he believed Sinn Fein vice-president Mary Lou McDonald's sit-in was designed to distract attention from serious issues.
Sinn Fein has faced harsh criticism in the Dail over the case of Belfast woman Mairia Cahill, who says she is a victim of an abuse cover-up. Ms McDonald will be suspended from the Dail next Tuesday after her four hour sit-in.
