Teen arrested in Belfast burglary probe
Police investigating a report of a burglary at residential premises at the Chichester Avenue area of north Belfast have arrested an 18-year-old man.
Detective Inspector Wilson said: “Shortly after 5:05am, it was reported a man entered a house in the area. A number of items were taken during the incident and the property was ransacked.
“An older woman was inside the property and, although not injured, was left badly shaken following the incident.
“The male was arrested a short time afterwards in the area on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal, going equipped for burglary, possession of a Class B controlled drug and possession of a Class C controlled drug. He remains in police custody at this time.
“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 294 27/5/19.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
