Teen suffers fractured hands, shoulders and legs after assault by gang armed with baseball bats

A 17-year-old boy has been attacked by a gang armed with baseball bats in south Belfast.

The teenager sustained facial injuries as well as fractures to his hands, shoulder and legs as a result.

It happened in the Maryville Street area between 1am and 1.30am.

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson said: "This was quite a reckless act and I would ask for the public’s assistance in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

"I would ask anyone who witnessed this incident, or knows anything about it, to contact non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 100 of 11/05/17. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
