Teenage boy held on suspicion of arson over Lisburn flat fire

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a blaze at a flat in Lisburn.

The fire took hold at a flat in the Drumbeg Drive area of the city on Monday night after police saw smoke billowing from the property at around 11.30pm.

Two officers were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation after helping those inside the building to safety.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, burglary and possession of an offensive weapon.

He is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

Police have appealed for information.
