Teenage girl (14) may be left with scarring after attack at Antrim house party

By Allan Preston

A teenager may be left with "scarring" to her face and head after a vicious attack at the weekend, police have said.

It is understood the assault on the 14-year-old girl took place in the Carnbeg area of Antrim town between midnight on Saturday and the early hours of Sunday morning.

She was attacked with a bottle outside a house party.

Police are investigating the incident as a case of grievous bodily harm.

DUP MLA for South Antrim, Trevor Clarke, said he was shocked by the incident, adding: "This behaviour cannot happen on our streets. I would urge anyone who has any information, no matter how large or small, to contact the PSNI immediately."

Ulster Unionist councillor Drew Ritchie said residents told him three young girls were involved.

"To hear about a young girl getting scarred on her face, it's terrible for her," he said.

Police are appealing for anyone who was at the party and has not yet spoke with officers to contact them.
