Teenager assaulted in Carrickfergus

An 18-year-old man has been assaulted in Carrickfergus.

The PSNI has appealed for information following the incident in the Kinbayne Crescent area of the town on Saturday night.

At around 11.30pm, three masked men entered a flat in the area.

They produced a firearm and hit the teenager in the face.

A police spokeswoman said the men threatened the occupant before making off. The teenager suffered facial injuries which required medical treatment.

A 19-year-old girl was also in the flat at the time of the assault.

The investigation is at an early stage and the police are working to establish a motive.
