Teenager hurt after being hit with bottle on Antrim Road

A youth has been badly injured after he was hit over the head with a bottle. Police said the serious assault happened on the Antrim Road on Sunday.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "At approximately 4am an 18-year-old male was assaulted at a bus stop, near Atlantic Avenue, by two unknown males. He was hit over the head with what is believed to be a bottle."

The victim was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

One attacker was approximately 5ft 11ins, thin, in his late 20s, with short black hair, wearing a white hooded jacket and dark bottoms and carrying a beer bottle.

The second male was approximately 5ft 11ins, of thin build with short fair hair and wearing a black jacket.

Any witnesses to the attack should contact Antrim Road police on 0845 600 8000, or Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
