Teenager ‘jumped out of police car’

A Londonderry teenager has appeared at the city's Magistrates Court charged with escaping from lawful custody by jumping from a police car as he was being taken to court.

Kevin Doherty (19), from Liscloon Drive, is charged with committing the offence on October 12.

He is also charged with hijacking a car, disorderly behaviour and dangerous driving.

Those offences are alleged to have occurred this month.

The defendant was remanded to appear in court for a video-link hearing next Thursday.
