Teenager ordered to lie down on grass in paramilitary style shooting

A teenager has been forced to lie down on grass while men shot him in each leg in west Belfast.

The paramilitary-style shooting happened in the Glenkeen area of Poleglass on Thursday night.

The 18-year-old man was walking in the area shortly after 8pm when he was approached by two men.

They walked him along a pathway a short distance and forced him to lie face down on a grassy area before shooting him once in each leg.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Detectives in Lisburn are appealing for information and have described one of the men as about 5'10" tall and of heavy build.

It is believed the attackers may have made off in a red saloon car.

Witnesses should contact CID at Lisburn Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
