Teenager stabbed on own doorstep in west Belfast

By Claire Williamson

A teenage boy has been stabbed several times in west Belfast.

It's understood the 17-year-old was confronted by a male armed with a knife at the front door of his house.

The incident happened at around 3pm yesterday afternoon in the Quadrant Place area.

A 51-year-old woman, who was also in the house at the time, came to the teenager's assistance.

The woman tried to shut the door against the man and she sustained a minor cut to her arm in the scuffle.

It's understood the young boy then chased the attacker and was stabbed a number of times outside the property.

He was taken to hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Detectives at Woodbourne CID would like to speak to witnesses or anyone with information about the attack.

They can be reached on the non-emergency number 101.
