'Terminator' Eamonn Magee accused of assaulting ex-wife
Former world boxing champion appeared at Belfast court
Former world boxing champion Eamonn Magee is facing charges of assaulting and stealing money from his ex-wife.
Magee, 42, appeared at Belfast Magistrates' Court today to contest the allegations against him.
But the hearing had to be put back after his estranged wife Mary Magee failed to show.
It emerged that a summons was not served on Mrs Magee to attend and give evidence as a prosecution witness.
Her ex-husband, with an address at Eskdale Gardens, Belfast, faces two charges connected to an alleged incident in the city last September.
Magee is accused of common assault and stealing £30 and a house key from her.
Ordering the alleged victim to be summonsed to court, District Judge Fiona Bagnall indicated she wanted the case re-listed within a month.
Magee, known as The Terminator during a professional career which included 33 fights, captured the WBU belt following earlier Commonwealth success.
He was the first boxer to knock down fellow ex-world champion Ricky Hatton, even though he went on to lose that bout on a split decision.
Since his retirement from the ring six years ago he has worked as a trainer at the famous Breen's Gym in Belfast.
