Terrifying ordeal for Ahoghill staff at hands of machete-wielding robbers

Police are hunting for the armed robbers who put staff at an Ahoghill filling station through a terrifying ordeal last month.

The PSNI has today released CCTV footage in a bid to help track down the people behind the robbery at the Largy Road business on Wednesday, November 26.

One of the men was armed with a machete.

Detective Chief Inspector Catherine Magee said: “The footage demonstrates the violent intent of these two men.

"They have their faces entirely covered, but their height and shape may be familiar to someone.

"Also, their gait, stance and movements may provide a further clue as to their identity.

“Also, I would ask that anyone who may know anything about the robbery but has been reluctant to contact police up to now, takes a look at this footage.

"It was an extremely frightening ordeal for the two young female shop assistants involved.

"These criminals were quite prepared to use violence and highly threatening behaviour to get their hands on till money.

"It is important that we keep people safe by bringing them before the courts."

The senior officer would like anyone with information that could be of assistance to detectives to get in touch.

"I would ask that anyone who may be able to assist our enquiries contact Ballymena detectives on 101," she added.

"Information can also be passed anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
