Texas warned more flooding is on the way
Catastrophic flooding overwhelming Houston and other parts of Texas will worsen in the coming days, it has been warned.
Louis Uccellini, the director of the US National Weather Service, said up to 20in (51cm) of rain could fall in the coming days, on top of the more than 30in (76cm) some places have already seen.
Up to 2,000 people have been rescued from floods in and around Houston, as Tropical Storm Harvey batters Texas with heavy rains.
US President Donald Trump was yesterday reported to have declared a federal emergency in Louisiana.
Judging from federal disaster declarations, the storm has so far affected about a quarter of the Texas population, or 6.8 million people in 18 counties. It was blamed for at least two deaths.
