Thief stole wallet inside court
A man who stole £190 from a wallet he found inside the Magistrates Court building in Londonderry has been given a six-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, at the same court.
Dermot Kelly (32), from the Simon Community at Bond's Hill in the Waterside area of the city, committed the theft on November 28 last year.
District Judge Barney McElholm was told that a member of the public informed a member of the court staff that he had dropped his wallet, containing the money.
The empty wallet was found in the men's toilet room. CCTV showed the man dropping his wallet and Kelly picking it up.
Police recognised Kelly in the video, but the money was not recovered. He was ordered to repay the money.
