Thieves attempt to steal money from ATM in Newry

Thieves attempted to steal money from an ATM machine within a shop in Newry before being scared off by police.

Detectives have appealed for information following the burglary at the commercial premises on the Dublin Road in Cloghoge during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

It was reported entry was forced to the shop at around 12.20am by three men.

The men then attempted to break into an ATM but were disturbed by police activity in the area and fled the scene empty handed at around 3am.

Detective Sergeant James Johnston is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or any vehicles in the area at the time to contact Detectives in Ardmore Police Station on 101 quoting reference 241 04/07/18.
