Three arrested after 'balaclava-clad man with gun' attempts to rob Belfast shop

Three people have been arrested after a masked man with a suspected gun allegedly attempted to rob a shop in Belfast.

It was reported a man wearing a balaclava had entered the shop on Castle Street with a suspected firearm and demanded money from staff members at around 5.40pm on Friday.

The shop workers refused to hand any money over and the man left the shop and made off from the scene.

Two men, aged 52 and 61, and a woman aged 51 were arrested a short time later in relation to the incident.

All three were later released pending further investigation.
