Three people have been arrested after a raid on a social club in Belfast.

Police said a member of the public reported a break-in at the Lamh Dhearg GFC social club on the Upper Sringfield Road in the early hours of Monday and seeing a number of people leave in a silver car.

It is not known if anything was taken. Police are investigating the incident as a burglary and thanked the member of the public for reporting the incident.

"Officers attended immediately," said Detective Sergeant Paddy Conlan, "and using information provided by the reporting person, stopped a silver Peugeot 307 car.

"The occupants of the car, two men aged 26 and 27, and a 26-year-old woman, were subsequently arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and going equipped for theft.

"All three remain in custody this morning assisting with our enquiries. It is unclear at this time if anything was taken from the club and our investigation is ongoing.

“I would like to thank the member of the public for their quick thinking and prompt actions in alerting police to this incident. I would also ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area at the time or who has any information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 75 15/04/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
