Three arrested after suspected gun found during Belfast car search

Police in Northern Ireland have arrested three men and recovered a suspected firearm following the search of a car in Belfast

Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force made the arrests in Clifton Street, in the north of the city on Wednesday July 18.

Detective Inspector Lynne Knox said : “The three men, aged 26, 30 and 36, were arrested under the Terrorism Act, after the car they were travelling in was stopped and searched at Clifton Street shortly after 10pm on Wednesday evening. 

"All three men were taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning where they remain assisting us with our enquiries. The suspected firearm recovered from the vehicle will be forensically examined.”
