Three arrests after car driven erratically in Dunmurry

Three men have been arrested after a car was stopped by police following reports it was driven erratically in Dunmurry.

The reports came in the Bellsteel Road area at around 1.15pm on Thursday afternoon.

Police identified a car matching the description and after following it for a short distance they stopped the car and subsequently made three arrests for a number of offences.

Inspector Mike White explained, "Within minutes of receiving reports from the local community about this car and how it was being driven, we quickly located and stopped it on Kennedy Way, arresting the 21-year-old driver for driving while unfit through drink or drugs and possession of drugs. We also arrested both passengers, a 22-year-old male and a 20-year-old make for a range of drug offences.

“Once again this is a great example of the local community working with us to address important local issues. By contacting us and giving us the details about this incident, we were able to respond quickly and achieve a safe outcome.

“I would encourage anyone who sees anything suspicious or illegal happening within their area, to local police by calling 999 in an emergency or on 101 to discuss any issues. Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 and pass on any details that you may have.”
