Three in hospital after four vehicle smash on M22

Three people have been taken to hospital following a four vehicle crash in Co Antrim.

The M22 Northbound was closed between Ballygrooby Road and Moneynick Road junctions following the crash.

Police said four vehicles were involved in the incident.

Seven people were involved in the crash and three people have been taken to hospital, the Ambulance Service said.

The incident happened at around 6.10pm. Seven emergency crews, one rapid response paramedic, two doctors and two officers attended the scene. Members of the charity air ambulance service attended the scene by road.

One patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital and one to Antrim Area Hospital.

It is not yet known where the third patient was taken.

The road was reopened in the early hours of Saturday.
